Language and culture

Geography and geographical location of Meghna Upazila has played a role in shaping the language and culture of the people of this upazila. Located in the southeastern part of Bangladesh, this upazila is surrounded by the Indian state of Tripura, Dhaka division and other upazilas of Chittagong division. The main features of the language are the same as in other upazilas of Bangladesh, but there is some variation. For example, in spoken language, mahapranadhvani is largely absent, i.e. there is a tendency to simplify the language. The languages of Dhaka region adjacent to the regional languages of Meghna, Homna, Daudkandi, Titas, etc. have a lot in common with the languages of the regional areas of Narayanganj district. Experts believe that the movement of the Meghna-Titas River has had a profound effect on the behavior, food, language and culture of the people of Homna.
